Trap Call Compliment - Unmasking blocked/private calls.

I stumbled across something really cool! trapcall.com

I recently got an iPhone with AT&T. I love this device BUT I found it to be lacking in one or two features that I desperately needed. 1. The ability to block/blacklist certain numbers from calling (I could do that easily on my Sprint Blackberry) and 2. The ability to see who was calling using blocked/private numbers.

To make a long story short...I had a contractor do some painting in my home. After the work as complete and he was paid(in full), he continued to contact me in an attempt to get more money. I ignored these calls and he started calling from blocked numbers at all hours of the morning (1 am, 4 am...) I filed a report with the police but I could not prove the blocked numbers - other than the few times the doofus blocked his number AND left a voicemail...lol.

I stumbled across this neat little service that resolved that issue for me. I was unaware that if you block your number and call an 800 number, the call is NOT actually blocked. They can see you!! What trap call does, is forward the call to an 800 number and send it back to you unblocked. It does it so quickly, it only takes about one extra ring. It costs $4.95/month but it is well worth it for me to have for the next few months until I get this "situation" under control.

Another feature of Trap Call is that they provide you with a Blacklist. You add all of the numbers you do not want to reach you and you do not receive those calls.

For additional money, you can have some other features (incoming call recording, name and address caller id, and some other stuff) but I did not need all those bells and whistles nor the added expense.

Cell phones cost a LOT of money and I have become increasingly distressed that I pay for the service and am not able to enjoy it as I should due to unwanted calls from telemarketers and other folks that I'd just rather not deal with. I may decide to keep this service just for the extra peace of mind.

Just sharing~~~Hope this helps someone!

Off topic, there is a service where you are calling someone, you can skip the ring and go straight to their voicemail. This is helpful when you dont want speak to the person and just want to leave a message on their voicemail.
