Tide Complaint - Mother Lies to Daughter

Review by PHILCHAMBORD on 2010-10-09
Daughter asks if her mother has seen her shirt and the mother lies saying tht it is not her style. Her thoughts show her wearing and staing it.

This is not a proper example of how families should be portrayed in America. It is a total discrace and insult to all parents who try to set a proper example of integrity toward their children and each other.

If morals and scruples are old fasioned, then perhaps they should be brought back into fashion. We need more law abiding citizens, not more lawers.

I think the commercial is cute. I hope I can fit into my daughter's clothes when she's a teenager

They always lie on TV ever heard of infomercials, political campaign ads?

I can see where some have issues with the commercial. Being dishonest, is not something any parent should teach to their children and intentionally lying about an issue shows a lack of character and integrity.

Yes everyone is dishonest from time to time. We teach our children best by example an this does not foster that tenet.

It's an ad...a work of fiction. It's not something someone should cite as an example when teaching their children proper behavior.

I think it is cute. It is a TV ad - more of a JOKE than a commentary on real life.

I don't like or dislike this commercial but the fact that it is somewhat controversial and has people talking and writing about it means it has worked. Tide is getting a lot of free publicity on sites like this and from people talking about it. I'm sure Tide is pleased with the results.

It bothers me that Tide is pushing their stain release in-wash booster. So, I should buy this product because they tell me that their normal detergent isn't good enough? Baloney.

*signed, not a Tide user, but still stain free*

Oh come on, that commercial is adorable. Are there really that many people who have gotten their dander up over this?

The commercial I hate the most is the one for Korean air. It has NOTHING to do with aircraft.

What's worse are these TV preachers that claim that if you send them money that they'll get it back and a lot more. I know of a few families who's elderly parents were scammed by these guys. Once the checks stop, they want nothing to do with you.

You know what, a lot of people seem to hate this ad. I hate every ad so I'm bias.

I don't think it's "cute" to lie and I find the commercial distasteful, too.

I completely agree with the OP...the commercial portrays a mother teaching her child that lying is acceptable behavior. I detest this commercial and noticed today that the company has taken notice of those who agree and they have edited it to take out the mother's lie. I'm very glad to see there are some people with ethics still out there, even if we are in the minority.

Hmm.. I just realized my comment is in the cornfields. I don't see anything wrong with it.
