Home Depot Complaint - Home Depot - Avon MA
AVON, MASSACHUSETTS -- Although this is in the nature of a complaint, it is more of an observation of the level of attention paid to the customer in this store.
Last week our microwave oven went to the big kitchen in the sky. I decided that rather than try to have it repaired, I would replace it. I did some quick research online, then went with my neighbor to the Avon MA Home Depot to purchase new oven. This was at 7 o'clock on Friday evening.
Armed with my notes, we looked at every oven on display and compared options and colors. Eventually I settled on a Maytag unit. By this time we had been in the appliance area at least 30 minutes. No one bothered to even ask if we needed help, much less if I was ready to buy.
In this store, the appliances are on a balcony which overlooks the main sales floor. Standing at the balcony rail, I attempted to find someone who could at least page help for me. After the third employee passed by, working very hard at not making eye contact, I walked.
Taking the ten minute drive to Lowes in Brockton MA, I found the very same model on display. The main difference was that it was $30 cheaper, and has a rebate. A clerk immediately inquired if I had any questions he could help with. He checked on color options for me, checked that what I wanted was in stock, then took the unit all the way out to my car.
I know that my $400 (or so) is not the biggest sale they had that day, but it's a lot of money to me, and being made to feel so unimportant means that it will be a long, long time before I go back to that Home Depot. Considering that I plan to replace all my windows before snowfall, maybe my microwave oven sale was not such a minor sale to them. Certainly Lowes will get first shot at that deal.
