Best Buy Complaint - Warning: Watch Out For A 15% Restocking Fee For Returns.
PHILA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I do not make a habit out of returning merchandise or abusing a store's return policy. If you purchase something from Sears, Wal-Mart, Lowe's etc. And you return the item with the receipt, they will give you your money back. Well I purchased a GPS for my car from B.B. and was not satisfied with the performance. They have a policy that it MUST be returned in 14 days for a refund. So after 4 days I returned it in the original box with the paperwork & cords all wrapped in plastic, just like I received it. The girl at returns said there will be a $45.00 restocking fee. I asked why, it was not past the 14 day limit. Store policy in the "fine print" states 14 days for UNOPENED computers, monitors, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras & radar detectors. If is OPENED the 15% restocking fee kicks in. So if you buy a $3000.00 computer, open the box then return it in under 14 days expect a $450.00 restocking fee. What a horrible business practice. In this tough economy this is how they treat a customer? Vote with your wallet and shop elsewhere. Best Buy equals Bad Buy!!
