Tavern on Citrus Complaint - Poor

Review by Areona11 on 2010-10-11
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA -- This is by far one of the worst experiences I have ever had. The service from the kitchen staff - is horrible. Not to mention rude! A group of us went there to eat & have a drink. They cook the food basically in front of you and what we witnessed was disgusting!! We all ordered hamburgers. I witnessed the entire cooking process and the lady cooking touched the meat with her bare hands, then touched the utensils, adjusted her bra, touched the bread, cheese, lettuce, touched drawers below grill to get food out, again touching bacon, utensils, bbq container, tomatoes, and counter, oh and even again touching her shirt then our food. All of this was done within the whole process of her cooking. Not once did I see her wash her hands or put gloves on. Then, when we told her what our problem was, she not only got defensive and rude, we told her we would not be coming back and she said, "well the door is right where it is when you came in.".... Really who says that? I would not suggest going there!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you stay for the meal or walk out?

As much as I agree with the health code and sanitary employees, just step back and look at our own actions as customers. We touch a filthy, germ infested door handle when entering the establishment. We then reach into our pockets, pull out our wallet and finger through cash that has been touched by how many other thousands of hands, hand it to the cashier, receive change/cash in return that has also been touched and handled by thousands of humans and their respective germs. Then we finally grab our order and sit down to eat. With the exception of about 1-2 people on this site, I don't think any of us can HONESTLY say that we go wash our hands after handing the cashier cash from our pocket, before sitting down to eat. It's often easy to point the finger of blame, but take a minute to step back and realize what we ourselves are guilty of as well:)

Thats just what they DO catch. Id like to see what this OP would say if he/she went to a burgerking or Mcdonalds and saw how their food was prepared. Lets see if the employees wash their hands every time they touch something with germs. You can't expect someone to wash their hands every time they touch something. Its just not practical.

Preacher, I do wash my hands before eating when I dine out and at times BEFORE using the restroom.
Where do you get these twisted thoughts from?
