Carrabbas Compliment - I love this place....but

Review by chauncy05 on 2010-10-13
...the but, is that there isn't one close by to my home! I absolutely love this restaurant, yet they tell me they aren't interested in the market here. I can't understand why. There are tons of restaurants in my town, a lot of bucks going around and in a pretty affluent area.

"There are tons of restaurants in my town." Hmmmmm, did you see what you typed? They probably feel the restaurant market is saturated. A good entrepreneur analyzes the market area, and will often pass up a market if there are too many similar businesses in that area.

I have been to Carrabbas a few times, they have good food. My fave dish is the Chicken Bryan.

Yeah, Carrabbas is good! Ditto on the Chicken Bryan!

I became a regular at my local Carrabbas. At first I was very impressed. Then I found the service was spotty, and the bread I came to love was served hard/stale a few times. I ended up pitching them over the side. I did have a few good meals there, but the chances of having a great time were too low, about 60%.

If there are a ton of restaurants in the area, then it's probably not an attractive place to open a new one.

I'm hungry.

I think we have one Carrabbas in my area. Never been there, but sounds like it's definitely worth checking out.

The complimentary bread with herbed oil was one of the things that first drew me in. However, on two of ten visits at 9pm (they close at 10pm) it was almost stale. I inquired, and the manager was impassionate. He said they precut it after 8pm. Another problem was servers often had side work after 8pm. In the kitchen, wrapping silverware for 10 minutes, is not where I want my server when my iced tea glass is empty or my bread is stale. On other occasions, my server was across the restaurant straightening tables for an extended period of time.

I found they just were not consistent enough for me, for the price charged. I did have several tasty meals. They had some great entrees and a few tasty salads. When the bread was right, it was awesome. If you are open until 10pm, service at 8-9pm shouldn't suffer from cleanup duties IMO. The manager agreed, again impassionately. Kind of like "this is how we do things."
