Consumer Research Corporation Complaint - Is This Mystery Shopper AD Legit?

Review by MarkySharky20 on 2005-03-07
I came across an Ad to be a mysptery shopper in my area, in Rohnert Park it said they were in "High Demand" and that all i had to do was fully complete 2 of the offers they were offering. I did and have both of the confirmation e-mail from the other companys I selected. When I was finished it said that I would receive an e-mail with shipping details. I never recieved it. It said it was going be a 500 dollar gift card, i dont know if they would be mailing that or the mystery shopper information. Please if someone could help me....

The fine print says that you have to fill out two of the offers in each of three different groups for a total of six offers. Unless you are planing on buying a car (and want to finance it online) then you are pretty much out of luck in getting that new R7 or whatever. I think that unless I'm the guy making money off these scams then the people responsible should be drug down the street behind my car.

If you have to buy anything or if you have to put any money up front you can only bet it is a scam.

Many companies use "shoppers" to evaluate franchises and retail outlets, as well as certain service oriented industries. The government also uses "shoppers" to investigate civil and legal complaints of violation of state or federal laws. All of these positions require completion of a regular employment application and Form W-4, just as any other job. These jobs either pay hourly, salary, or per diem at a set rate, with payroll taxes withheld (except for independent contractors, who are responsible for their own taxes). Not one legit "shopper" job offers compensation in the form of goods or gift certificates.

Sorry, you got scammed.
