Citicards Complaint - Deceptive Practices - Citi Credit Card

Citi Credit Card - Complaint
Review by maryb55 on 2010-10-15
I took an "interest free" cash advance paying an upfront fee for the funds. Each month I pay more than the total of my monthly purchases plus extra to go toward the advance. But an interest charge continued to be charged even though more than total purchases had been paid. When I called the company, because the balance is not paid in full, including the full balance of the "interest free" advance there is not a grace period. So from what the representative told me there is no way not to have an interest charge unless I pay off their "interest free" advance. On top of this wonderful access to the "interest free" advance, I get to pay a $85.00 annual fee...well guess what I have paid the last fee that Citi Card will get from me!!! And I will continue to talk about their deceptive practices again and again and again!! Acts like this is why legislation is continually being passed to monitor how they deceive the public!!

If you read your agreement it is plainly written that if you have an outstanding balance, the no intrest cash advance does not apply. All credit cards gave the same policy. If you already owe them money, why would they lye you borrow more at no interest? That is a high yearly charge. Sears has a no fee Citibank MasterCard that gives pretty good rewards, IF you carry NO balance.

The policy you cite sounds like what I have seen associated with the checks that come with my credit cards. I wish I could have the checks stopped. I probably have received 1000 of them; I haven't and will never use a single one. The fine print is too scary.

The last time I had a card with a fee was around 1988. Can you find one with no fee? Mine give me 1 to 3% cash back too.
