BRGR Kitchen Bar - Prairie Village, KS Complaint - Restaurant is just marginally okay -- not great.
PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KS -- Went to BRGR on Sunday, October 17th. My wife and I had never eaten there before. We were very impressed with the size of the crowd on a Sunday evening. Business was packed. Any restaurant that is doing that kind of a business on a Sunday evening must be doing something right.
First experience was getting seated. The meeter-seater waited on the person behind us first and didn't even acknowledge that we were there. The waitress was pleasant and friendly, however we had the impression that we were being processed, not waited upon. We felt that she wanted us in and not, not to dilly-dally. Thank goodness we had a $10.00 coupon or I would have really been pissed. Noise level bordered on unbearable. I ordered the standard hamburger. It is just okay, nothing special. I ordered medium well, received a burger more like medium. Not near as good a place to eat as Red Robin, Cheeseburger in Paradise or especially Five Guys (our favorite). My wife enjoyed her portobello sandwich. Sweet potato fries were really good, however, quantity was deceiving considering the container they were served in. Prices of the fries and the beer was reasonable. Price of the sandwiches was very expensive considering what you got. I'm glad we visited the restaurant, however, we will probably never go back. It was good being able to confirm our favorite, Five Guys. Our favorite burger place is still Five Guys, which is really hard to beat. If Five Guys would just serve sweet potato fries, they would be perfect. I don't think we would able to order just the sweet potato fires and take them to Five Guys to enjoy.
We wish BRGR great success. They are definitely geared to appeal to the Prairie Village yuppie. They will have to succeed without our support. Looking forward to our next visit to Five Guys
