Honda Complaint - Blown Honda s2000 Engine
KENNESAW, GEORGIA -- Here is another complaint on the s2000. I have a 2000 S2000 that I have owned for a matter of 1.5 years. The s2000 was a beautiful ride, however. With about 51000 on the car the engine blew eating the third cylinder and eating up the camshaft. I am looking at an $8000 repair. If you are looking at buying one of these DO NOT buy a 2000-2003. The new engines are better and more reliable. I now hate the S2000 and I wished I had never bought it. This is my 6th Honda I have owned. I have owned a 99 Civic Si, 02 v6 Accord Sedan, 91 Accord Ex, 94 Accord Ex, 2000 Acura RL, and the 2000 S2000. For all the money I have spent through Honda you'd think they would give me an engine for free because they know I will be back. I bought a replacement car (94 Accord EX with 164k miles, runs perfect) and the s2000 sits in the shop with $10k owed on it still and a $8k price tag to fix it (Brand new engine) and $7700 for a used engine. Honda did alot of work to design this car. I have never raced it. Only used Royal Purple Synthetic Motor Oil and changed filters every 2500 miles. Anybody have any suggestions before I dump Honda on their ass and go to Nissan. I must say I like the new 350Z it has a whole lot more room and not quite as many problems.
