LA Fitness Complaint - Freeze fees continue to be charge....theme with all Fitness Companies?
We put our account on hold as we were moving and unsure if we may want to continue at that Gym. Later we went back to cancel our service. They accepted our cancellation and later we found we were still being charged the $10 + tax $11.30 "Freeze" fee. They said they had no record of the cancellation and would have to continue the fee for one month as that was the cancellation policy. We were told we didn't need any document or receipt. When I insisted they said they didn't even have such a document to issue that it had been entered in their system. It has now been four months and the $11.30 is still being charged to our credit card. Upon calling them the manager wasn't available and would not return calls. I was told to keep calling until I could get her. I wonder if that would have been the case if I was interested in signing a new contract? We had a similar experience with Premier Fitness and are concerned it this is a standard racket with these fitness companies who go on the premise that a small charge would go unnoticed? My recommendation is do not do a automatic charge to the credit card.....issue cheques instead.
