Hertz Complaint - My vehicle was impounded and was taken to jail for a vehicle I paid for.
MINNESOTA -- I rented a vehicle from Hertz on March 1, 2010 and used my bank card instead of my credit card because I was not sure when I was returning the vehicle and wanted to make sure I didn't hit my credit limit should I need additional days. To make a long story short... I was hospitalized and could not return the vehicle. I called Hertz and informed the of the situation and they said it would be ok and that they would make a note of it and just continue to deduct the funds from my bank account. On the day I was discharged, I called Hertz and notified them I was in route to return the vehicle, again they made a note of it in the computer. I was stopped for speeding because I was rushing to get the vehicle back to Hertz. I was told the vehicle was reported stolen and I was taken to jail. Upon being released from jail, I tried contacting Hertz to retrieve my belongings. I not only find out where they had placed my items, luggage, computer, iPhone, clothing, etc. But Hertz had deducted the funds from my bank account way before it was impounded and me going to jail. Hertz claim to not know where my items were and that they were not responsible for any of the lost items that were clearly inventoried on the tow sheet by the officer that had my vehicle impounded because Hertz reported the vehicle stolen. Hertz got my money, put me in jail, and took my property. HERTZ SUCKS!!! THEY ARE CRIMINALS THEY WAY THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! FU HERTZ!!!
