Home Depot Complaint - Home Depot - Laminate Flooring Installation Quote
CAROL STREAM, ILLINOIS -- After checking prices at a flooring store and Home Depot I decided to go with Home Depot because they seemed to have better pricing. Boy was I wrong! I had the guy come out for a measurement on the 9th and was told I should have my estimate by the 11th. On the 13th I called because I heard NOTHING. I was told that someone would call me back that day. I called again on the 14th because no one called me back. They again told me the same thing. I told them no that I heard that the day before and never got a call back and that I was supposed to hear something on Monday. The guy looked in their computer system and told me the measuring guy put a note about cracks in the flooring and the floor being wavy and that the installer needed to come out and check to see if they could even install laminate that I may have to go with carpet. I told him I didn't want carpet because of the cats and the fact that they urinated on the carpet that was there (now mind you my mom and I removed the carpet, padding, tacking strips and I cleaned the cement with bleach to make sure it was clean and sterile). He told me the installer would call and I said that if I didn't get a call that day I'd be in the store to get my money back for the measurement ($35 charge). 10 minutes later the flooring company called and set up an appointment for the next day. The installer came out nad showed me the wavy spots on the floor and did his thing and told me I'd have a quote Monday. Monday afternoon I still hadn't heard anything so I called them (not really sure why the customer paying the bills should have to make the calls but I did). I was put on hold while he found my paperwork and then he began explaining to me that it came to just over $2100! I told him to break it down for me and he said they needed 20 (25lb bags) bags of cement @ $59/bag to make the floor level. Um hello... Hell no! The floor is 1/4"-3/4" off in spots. Is he planning on pouring me an entirely new concrete floor? I ended up calling out another flooring company and these guys were so nice (not rude when I asked questions like the measuring guy Home Depot sent out) and told me it would be 3 MAYBE 4 bags of cement at most. Once I get my new quote I will be making a visit to Home Depot to speak with a manager. Do NOT make the same mistake I did. Skip Home Depot all together!
