Gold's Gym: Redondo Beach Complaint - Gold's Is A Disaster

Review by Blubear on 2010-10-25
200 N. HARBOR DRIVE, REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA -- I must warn others about this gym as I have had nothing but problems and delays in ending a gym membership. What is difficult to understand is that any worker can sign an individual up for a membership, yet when I went into the gym in August they required a manager or regional manager to even discuss ending my membership. I made 4 calls and 3 trips to the gym and never saw a manager. Today I have now been told that I am $70.00 dollars past due. I inquired about this and they have advised that they switched their billing company who did not bill members in June and July of 2010. I have not been in the gym in a year and today I have made 4 more calls to Gold's and 2 to my bank to again try to end my membership only to be advised that once Gold's receive payment and a letter from me canceling the membership, they close the account. My bank has verified that the payment was made July and are looking for the June payment. Who runs a business like this? I have spent 10x more time trying to cancel my membership than I did joining this dump. Never again

I am not the type to join gyms or health clubs in the first place. With all the complaints about cancellation and unintended billing, I would never join one that requires access to my bank or credit accounts.
