General Electric Company Complaint - Warranty nightmare - GE washer
In 2009 I bought a GE washer. It sprung a leak which affected the electronics less than a year later. I bought the washer in the USA and moved it to Canada which is a 30 minute drive. I called GE and they said they would honour it. The warranty is exactly the same in the US and Canada. That was August 6. Fast forward to the end of October. After numerous calls to GE because they hadn't sent the parts to the repair shop, all the while being assured by no less than 4 different people that they would cover the parts under warranty, they suddenly decide they won't cover it. I wasn't happy with the washer because it leaves a lot of soapy water in the rubber gasket on the door after a load has been done but could live with it. Now that they won't honour a warranty, after leading me on for 3 months, I am going to put the washer on the curb with a "free" sign on it. I wasted a lot of money and time running into town to do laudry, far more than the parts are worth. My initial positive attitude towards them has bottomed out and I will NEVER, EVER buy a GE product again. If they had been smart and knew the value of PR they would have told me they made a mistake in saying they would honour it in the beginning but would cover the costs this time as an apology. Had they done that no one would be reading this complaint and I wold have been happy to tell my friends, family and neighbors that GE stood behind their products.
