Louisburg Ford Complaint - Misdiagnosis! - Replacing fuel pump to "solve the problem"
LOUISBURG, KANSAS -- This review is a complaint of the Louisburg Ford Service Dept.
I have a 1996 Ford Taurus and recently it had started only starting on the second or third try every once in a while when I would try to start it, then it got to being that it only started after two or three tries every single time I tried to start it. so I took it to Louisburg Ford (kansas)and they said that it would only be $50 dollars to look and see what the issue was, then I get a call later that night saying that it is now $100 since to find the problem they had to lift the fuel tank --i understand that it was needed but they should have called me to tell me that the price would be raised, I'm a broke college student here! -- so I said okay after a breif argument with the service man.
He then told me that the issue was that my fuel pump was choking and that it needed to be replaced and quoted it around $1000, so to save money I bought a fuel pump at a local auto shop and took it to a shop I frequently visit to have it installed.
So about $500 later I got my car back and what would you know it still had the SAME ISSUE. So I called Louisburg Ford to complain and he said since I did not use a Ford fuel pump that it was not their responsibility and if I wanted it looked at again then it would be another $100 to re-diagnose it.
And I was not about to pay them again, so I took it to another mechanic and what do you know! I need to replace a Throttle Position Senser which is $40 AT THE MOST!!!!! so I could have saved over $400 dollars...my family has had a lot of issues with Ford misdiagnosing our cars needless to say I will not be taking my car back there. EVER.
