Charter Communications Complaint - Nothing but problems
Charter is, unfortunately for me, the only game in town where I live. I have the fastest package they offer in my area, however, I have never even come close to the speed I am paying for. their own speedtest, while magically showing a much higher speed than third party testers, still only shows about 60% the first time or two I test. however, if I test more than once, the speed drops after the first couple to about 30% of what I am paying for. I have made no less than 2 dozen calls to the company, had techs out at least half that number, and finally one day when expedited to some kind of special care office was told that the first YEAR I had the service my area didn't even have the speed they were charging me for. I can't even believe that is acceptable business practice. they credited me the difference and sent out techs again, say the speed is available. one of the techs noticed that the charter modem didn't allow for home networking that included wireless. hmmph. it just kept getting better from there. each of the last four times the tech said he would return the next day, either with new cable or with a supervisor, etc, but they never return. I have been told its my equipment (which they provide, funny enough) to its my computer (although the problem exists whether its any of our four computers in the home, the 2 Xbox 360s or the two ipod touches. always same problem. low speeds and lag spikes every couple of minutes. never matters what modems, what machines, nothing ever changes, yet they do continue expecting me to pay $100 for the pleasure of all this hassle.
would change away in a heartbeat if I could
