Travelocity Complaint - Extremely poor service
SARASOTA, FLORIDA -- My 16 yo daughter and I went to Sarasota to look at a college she interested in attending. I made the reservations through Travelocity.
The flight was acceptable but the hotel they are partnered with the Golden Host Resrt was a filthy hole. I paid Traveloity for a 2 bed room and when we arrived we were booked into a single bed room. Mind you I am traveling with my 16 yo daughter. At check in I did not notice that Travelocity had booked us into a single bed room. The "hotel" atended was a bit odd he asked my daughter how she was and when she said 16 he said, "ok" and continued to register us for a single bed room. I shudder to think of what else is aceptable with the Golden Host Hotel and Travelocity. When I asked for a double bed room I was told that I had to pay extra for the upgrade. Travelocity harged me $49.89 for a room that cost $35.00 I had to pay an additional $16.00 for the room change.
The room they gave us was a pit. There were no windows on the front of the building. The door opened into the bathroom. The sleeping area had cracked plaster walls and the plaster was falling off in places. The room had an extremely foul oder to it. As if something was/is rotting. I tried to open the "patio door" and discovered that the lock was complete non-funutional it spun around freely in the door frame. There was a metal bar jammed between the door and the wall to keep the door shut. I moved the bar and opened the door to get some air into the room as I pulled the screen door over it fell off the building ane onto the ground. As the humidity level was about 90% I could not leave the door open so I closed it stuck the bar back and turned on the air conditioner in the hope that the smell would go away some how. I told my daughter to get out her computer and find us some where to go for awhile to give room a chane to air out. She tried to get on the internet and discovered that the Hotel charged for the connection. I told her come on we eill drive around and see what we can find. As we stepped out the door there was a pickup truk in the parking lot with 2 guys standing there with the doors open peeing in the parking lot. That was enough for me I told my daughter to get her bags we are out of here.
We went down the road to another hotel and received a decent room and a decent place to stay. I contacted Travelocity when I got back to complain but I was told that I HAD to complain when it happened the hotel had already charged Travelocity for our non stay so Travelocity could not offer any type of refund. I usually make trvel arrangement through Expedia and have had decent accommodations every time. Why I went with Travelocity I do not know. I had no reason not to so I tried them. well now I have a reason not to I have 125 reasons not to. That is what a one night stay through Traveloity cost me for a $35.00 room.
I guess there is a reason why Travelocity uses a knome in their ads, no one at Travelocity has the guts to show their face and be identified with a group of cheats.
My advice stay away from Travelocity and Golden Host Resort, far away.
