Cox Communications Inc Complaint - High cost, no support, WORST company
I live in an area that gets service only from Cox. I have no choice but to go through them. I can't do Dish Network or directTV, because I don't have a clear sky view, and Qwest only offers internet connections at 1.5mpbs (way too slow).
Cox charges for EVERYTHING - HD TV is NOT NOT NOT free like they advertise, you have to purchase the upgraded cablebox at an additional cost, and subscribe to the HD channels. They are not technologically advanced enough to interface with Tivo Series 3 HD boxes, so you have to get cable cards and a converter box. I've had my converter box replaced six times in two years - it's a piece of junk and even the tech support that comes to my house agrees, it never works.
I was on hold with Internet Tech Support for two days, and never got through, so I went through their website. I wanted 2 IP addresses so I could hardwire my PC and hardwire my wireless router to the cable modem. I needed to set up a server using my home pc, and hardwiring to the Cable Modem is the best option for port forwarding. They charge $6.95/month extra for a second IP address. This is new - two years ago when I did this, the second IP address was free. They've found another way to screw over their customers.

They constantly mark emails I send as spam. We're not talking spam, we're talking conversations between myself and family members that are absolutely NOT spam. Apparently pasting links from CNN.com to news articles trips their spam system. So I've switched to google for an email address, since Cox can't tell the difference between conversation and spam.
They claim their service has better connectability than sattelite companies, but they go down EVERY SINGLE TIME it rains. I had DirectTV in the past, and never had the service go out, not once in five years.
Every month, my costs go up and my services go down. I am so sick and tired of cox, in fact it's gotten so bad, it has become a deciding factor as to wether or not I'll extend my lease again next year.
