Expedia.com Complaint - Don't even go there...
An impromptu trip to Orlando, Florida, booked through Expedia, was the worst "vacation" I ever endured. When we arrived at the Marriot World Center, Orlando we checked in and went directly to our room to enjoy a few minutes on the balcony, unwinding from our trip. It was not to be.
Our 'scenic' view was the backside of the hotel roof, directly above the central heating and air unit. The noise it made was so loud we couldn't shut it out even by closing the sliding glass doors and pulling the heavy drapes. Apparently, all the rooms in two towers of the hotel overlook the roof on both sides, so travelers beware. We asked for an upgrade to a better room, but were rudely denied.
My bags were lost by US Airways and when I asked the hotel staff about getting a toothbrush, they directed me to the store inside the hotel, and told me I could buy all my toiletries there. The concierge provided nothing but misinformation, apparently they get a kickback for the 'trips' they book, and the shuttle service was a nightmare. If you went somewhere via shuttle you had to let them know 2 hours in advance and then wait around at the front lobby or wherever you were stuck for hours because they were never on time. And they were so rude, like they just hated everyone. My bags finally arrived via shuttle, and many many hours after the airport said the shuttle had them enroute. Apparently my bags were not a priority, neither was I.
On the last leg of the flight back I was put in a seat that had a bent headrest. I kid you not, it actually gave me whiplash all the way home. Spent the next few days with a heating pad wrapped around my neck to ease the pain. But there were no other seats available, so I had no choice.
At any rate, this is the last time I book with Expedia, the room actually cost more than I would have paid directly to the hotel, and at least then I would have been able to change hotels without a hassle. My best advise for anyone traveling to Orlando, don't go there, head to Hawaii for about the same price.
