Cox Communications Inc Complaint - Cox plays hardball....
My efax carrier allows me to port my phone number to them at no additional charge for the port or to their annual service fee. So, not needing this additional fax line, I instructed my efax carrier to port the number. Cox told them that it was their policy not to port a residential number to be used for business purposes. What a bunch of bull. So, I had to port the number to a residential carrier and than port to my efax company. Clearly this was an attempt to keep me at Cox against my will a tactic I considered mean spirited. So, being ticked at them I decided to port my other phone line and cancel my TV service, keeping my internet service. Not sure if this was a coincidence or deliberately but soon after porting and canceling the TV service my internet speed dropped so significantly it was almost unuseable going from over 20m to less than 3m on average. The reason I know this, is I have a record of going to speedtest.net before canceling the services and shortly after... I've downloaded the test results for my records and to possibly file a complaint with the utility commission as I don't believe this company operates in good faith. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Cox Communications.
