Wal-Mart Complaint - Walmart Tire And Review - New Tire Mount And Balance

New Tire Mount And Balance - Complaint
Review by jamesbond1978 on 2010-11-09
In November 2010 I purchased 4 new 17 inch Pirelli Scorpion tires, all terrain, all season. They were delivered in new condition, I inspected every tire upon arrival from UPS. I brought the tires to Walmart to have thme mounted and balanced. The process took over 2 hours. The Walmart service tech claimed one of the tires was defective or was damaged during transport? I replied if the tire was damaged why did you put it on my vehicle? He said well we got the tire on and it seems ok, its holding air, we think it will be fine. I paid the bill and drove my JEEP for 2 days, on the second day I had a flat tire at 12 am on my way home from work. The next day I examined the tire, their was a small puncture hole in the center of the left rear tire? This is the same tire the service tec stated he had experienced problems with two days prior.

Maybe I ran over over a small nail on the interstate, however I highly doubt it. Bottom line, do not bring your vehicle to WALMART for service, go to a certified repair shop. My mistake costed me $ 175.00. From some of the other responses I am reading, their repairs costed much more. Remember do not bring your vehicle to Walmart for service, they will damage your vehicle and your tires, and then blame you for the damage.

Thanks for warning others. I think allowing Walmart to do any type of work on vehicles is a mistake.

Wll how DO you know the tec did it? Maybe it IS a defect. It would have been better if the tec would have told you this BEFORE putting the tire on, as you could have sent the tire back. If I were you, I would take it back to wal mart, and tell them to remove the tire. Hopefully you have a spare you can put on, then send it back to the manufacturer.

Sounds like the OP already got it taken care of. But, next time, take it somewhere else. You might pay a bit more, but at least you know you aren't dealing with Walmart.

I wouldn't let WalMart touch my vehicle. I have my tire work done by a tire store. TireRack will drop ship to them, and they always do excellent work.

While I agree the tech shouldn't have mounted the tire if it were defective, I disagree with you flat out saying "they will damage your vehicle and your tires" - first off, you need to be able to prove that, otherwise it is libelous. I mean do you really think you drove around on a tire for 2 days with a hole in it before it went flat?
