Coggin Chevrolet Avenues Service Dept Complaint - Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues Ripped Me Off

Review by MarkT46 on 2010-11-10
I was ripped off by their Service department. They spent an hour and 20 minutes total changing out the plugs and wires in my SUV. The Service representative said they had to charge 1.5 hours for the plugs and 1.4 hours for the wires! The extra work to disconnect the one extra connection for each of the eight wires may have taken a minute per wire at most. The Service manager wouldn't even get out of his chair to talk to me in person. What a poor excuse for "service". Take your business anywhere else.

Most auto repair shops, particularly dealerships, use a labor guide such as the Chilton Labor Guide. The guide will give the time it takes for an average mechanic to complete a repair. The labor charges are based upon this guide. Rarely will it fall in favor of the consumer.

Also, some spark plugs are difficult to remove on certain vehicles, due to other underhood components being in the way. This is especially true on vehicles with transverse-mounted V-6 engines-some parts have to be removed to access the spark plugs. In a few cases, the engine even has to be hoisted out to get at the plugs. If additional parts need to be moved out of the way to access the plugs and wires, this will result in additional labor costs.
