Wal-Mart Complaint - Turkeys Over Turkey Legs
For a long time, Eddy's Smoked Turkey Drumsticks were sold at some WalMart delis for $3.38 each, and I got one whenever I could. They are delicious and nutritious, and the price was acceptable. Then there was a period of over six weeks when the Lacey, WA WalMart had no turkey legs. I sent a nastygram to corporate in Arkansas, not really expecting too much. I got a call from a man identifying himself as a manager, who said he would do what he could about getting turkey legs into the deli more often. within a week, they had turkey legs at Lacey, believe it or not, at $2.00 apiece. Everytime they had turkey legs when we went to WalMart, we would snatch up two legs. When we moved to Chehalis, I asked about the turkey legs at the deli there. and the woman behind the counter told me that when they had them in the back, if we called two hours ahead of time, we could get some. That is fine, if we had x-ray vision to see if they had any in the back. I sent another email to corporate, and again, I was contacted, and assured they would try to have turkey legs more often, which they did. The other day, we called ahead and ordered two turkey legs for the next day. When we went to pick them up, I almost fainted when they were marked $4.68 each. People who have gotten used to buying turkey legs at $2.00 will hardly pay over twice that. They may be making more per leg than they used to, but they are not going to sell many, so in the long run, they will lose money on the turkey legs, and may discontiunue them, which will really be a shame, as no chicken can compare with one of Eddy's fabulous turkey legs. the deli department at WalMart has cut it's own throat, especially since an email to corporate was responded to with a snippy, 'kiss my behind,' email that basically told me to kiss off. I doubt if I will ever buy another turkey leg at WalMart again.
