United Airlines Complaint - Mean to wife of marine serving in Afghanistan
Today, United Airlines chose to celebrate Veterans Day by being rude, uncaring and most unhelpful to the wife of a marine now deployed to Afghanistan. After her husband, who was stationed in Beaufort SC, deployed to Afghanistan, his wife planned to go stay with her family in Boston, taking the family dog with her. After the airline dog crate was approved by an airline employee, she was stopped at the gate and refused entry and she missed her flight. Moreover, they told her that if she did not get another crate by the next flight out, she would be charged for that flight and have to pay a second time for a flight the next day. They also refused her information about her luggage already on the flight she missed. After horribly treated, she called, in tears, another marine on base who traveled 45 minutes to help her. Fortunately, with his help and that of another passenger, she was able to board the next flight.
We owe it to our service members in harms way to help their families in time of need. Being polite goes a long way and it is free. United can't even be polite. I hope it costs them dearly in lost sales. I know this incident has lost them at least 3 customers.
