Credit Card By Juniper Bank - Complaint
Review by chris2003 on 2010-11-11
This is a question about "Juniper Card", card services collects payments for this and other cards.

I had a credit card from Juniper, about three years ago, and made a "purchase" it was a $900 dollars purchase, and since then had made regular payments and found out about a month ago, that I owe them $2,340.00 dollars now! even though I had made the regular payments, immediately I closed the account, and asked for a detailed statement of transactions since 2007 and there it was! in front of me.

Every time I had send a payment of $63.00 dollars no dollars were credited to the principal! that was completly out! to me that is unheard-of.
And on top of that, a finance charge and an APR charge was on the statement therefore I was going backwards instead of forward. for every payment of $63.00 dollars a charge of $95/$98 dollars was put on it!

Does anyone out there has the same problem, because I'm thinking of a massive lawsuit!
JUNIPER Credit Card people needs to be stopped.

Class action suit anyone?

This is November 2010, I have seen complaints since two years ago!

anybody wants to suit Juniper for unfair practices?

Please call me and count me-in.

Chris

It is hard to judge without knowing what the interest rate is but it isn't unusual to find yourself in this situation if you are making only the minimum amount due each month. Our Dear President Obama set legislation into place that requires creditors to disclose on the statement how long it will take you to pay the debt off if you make only the minimum payment each month. As well (since 05), creditors are required to give you minimum payments that include at least 1% of your balance but as you can see, it still places you in a precarious situation. Make sure you read and understand your statement EVERY MONTH. The credit system isn't designed for you to pay your debt quickly and in a hurry. They want to drag it out as long as possible to have the benefit of the monthly fees.

There is some missing information here. I would like to see one of the statements.

A $900 purchase paid at $63/month over 6 years (72 months) would be an 84% APR. Even at that ridiculous interest rate the balance at the 3 year point would be $826.35. Not $2,340. That just does not happen. There are things going on here you are not telling us.

What were the $98 fees for? Even in my example the interest is $57 to $62.50 each month. Where did the other $36 go?

in response to tnchuck100, I didn't mention that my minimum payment was only $25 and I was sending $63.
They say: we are charging you, late fees,(they did not send a statement from time to time) over the limit fees, finance and "other" fees on every statement. I just made an offer to pay $900 dollars cash and they turn it down.
Thanks.

MOMSEy, do you work for JUNIPER? you sound like it.
payments were made on time, and limit was $1000, after first and only purchase, account was closed by me.
because of all the extra charges and statements being late or not coming at all, the amounts have acummulated to a horrendous amaount. I'm just asking for comments, ideas, and trying to contact more people in the same situation so that I can sue this institution, thanks anyway.
But some of you sound like "you work for the Bank, like your scrutinizing everything we say and or just giving your 3cents on it.
Have a Wonderful Day!

No, these people don't work for the Bank. They are just trying to draw a complete picture of your problem.
"they did not send a statement from time to time"...did you send a payment in, even though you received no statement? If not, that could be a problem. They have a web site to sign in and pay your bill.

I'm sorry that you feel that if someone doesn't 100% agree with you, then they must work for the company you are upset with. I was simply asking questions, trying to get a clearer picture. You did answer one of my questions, that your limit was $1000, so I can see how easy it would be to exceed that once fees start getting tacked on to a $900 balance.

I don't know why statements coming late would cause you to be charged fees, since you say you were paying on time. I still don't understand what the fees were for, and I think before you worry about suing anyone, you should find out exactly what you were charged for and why.

A class action suit will get you nothing. And I'm not even a lawyer. I'm just a consumer who knows that class action lawsuits benefit no one but the lawyers who pin their name to them.

I have the same problem with juniper bank. I used the card twice and have repaid 10 times more than i took and still have a balance of $2,500. Every time i try to pay $100.00 and they charge me with fees for $65 plus late payment and interest my 100 dollars gets me more charges than $120.00 so i can never lower my balance and try to get away from these low lifes. Harrasment calls every night from 5pm until 10 pm every hour. what can i do?

My mom has had the same problem with them. She closed her account and has been paying on $550.00 for about 5yrs!! They are ridiculous! They said she has an account protection plan. We ask for proof and they didnt have any. They said it was over the phone. Then they sent a letter with "proof" and it didnt even belong to her. It was someone else. She called them about it and they told her she didnt know what she was talking about. She was one day late and they charged her $130.00 late fee. She no longer has the credit card and hasnt had it and closed it out! For every $100 on the bill they charge .99 cents. She has ask them to remove this "account protective plan" more than once. They say they will and never do. This company is such a scam.
