Regional Medical Labs Complaint - billing procedures

Review by John T on 2005-03-19
BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN -- I am an uninsured person and I pay more for my blood test then a insureance company pays for the same procedure. I feel this is unethical and unjust, and to top it off after paying much more if I want the results to my test it cost me $5.00 more to get them.

I have to agree. The medical Profession is geared to the Insured. The way it works I believe is to charge awful high prices for services rendered and then accept the insurance companys agreed to prices. These lower prices are agreed on by the medical community and the uninsured are charged the terribly inflated prices charged by the Medical groups.

For example: My wife had to have a cat scan ordered by her doctor: Thirty minute test was 7800.00 dollars. This would have been charged to me to pay, in fact they tried to get me to pay this inflated price for several months before my insurance company reduced the cat scan charge to 1400.00 dollars and all I had to was ten percent of 140.00 dollars. Ten percent of the hospital's agreed to charges. I firmly believe this inflated charge by the provider is the reason many people go bankrupt. If people don't go bankrupt the provider will go after them in the courts and ruin them!! BELIEVE IT!!
