Dancing With The Stars Complaint - Voting

Complaint
Review by Lil Mo on 2010-11-17
LAKE FOREST, CALIFORNIA -- Been watching DWTS since Season 1 and really enjoyed the show. Now it is turning out to be a unfair popularity contest. Bristol Palin should have been eliminated (not Brandy). I feel Bristol was kept due to her Mother's popularity. They have changed some of the Professional Dancer's around, well I think for 2011 that they should interview a couple of new Judges also. Time for some new blood for the "Judging". Michael Flatley from Riverdance filled in 1 week when Lin was out of town a few season's ago. Being realistic is it fair that Derek wins almost every season, Maks is totally hot and on fire too. I think if a contestant or professional dancer voices their opinion in any negative way to the judges, then they are eliminated too. Just hope DWTS makes some big changes before they are soon to be off the air.

In my opinion, the sooner the show is off the air, the better.

I saw this show for about 2 minutes before I switched to "South Park" reruns. Don't expect any changes. They like controversy since it increases their ratings. Ratings and money, not fairness, rule.

"I feel Bristol was kept due to her Mother's popularity." Uh, don't people call in and vote? I saw this show once and it did not impress me.

I think some people have complained, Jkt, that some of Sarah's supporters are calling in and giving Bristol an unfair edge. Things like this keep me up at night with worry!

Here's what I read:

The Internet has been abuzz in recent days about how Palin, who has consistently landed at the bottom of the judges' leaderboard, has been able to remain on the show. Some have suggested that voters — particularly supporters of Sarah Palin — have been voting in blocs and manipulating the system.

It's television. I wouldn't expect them to care about being fair.

I understand Brandy was pretty upset. She got a perfect score the night before. Apparently everyone was shocked that she was eliminated instead of Bristol. I wonder how Bristol feels about this.

You never know what is going on behind the scenes. I am sure they will manipulate the voting results in any manner that will suit their own agenda. As Alain stated - controversy = ratings = money.

I definitely think people are probably voting for Palin because of her mother's popularity. Its rediculous. Thats what happens when you mix politics and reality shows. Be prepared for palin to win, no matter HOW bad of dancer she is. She could be the worst dancer on the planet, people will vote for her because of her mother. Its rediculous, but hey, its the way of this crazy world we live in. I dont watch the show, nor do I ever plan to.

If she does win, I feel the show will lose a lot of credibility. This is one of the highest rated shows on television, but I wouldn't be surprised if a Palin win causes it to lose viewers.

Wait a minute. Not that I care at all. If I understand this, these people are calling in and voting their "favorite". Where is the problem with that? It is a popularity contest isn't it?

tnchuck...LMAO

Well hopefully the producers will learn their lesson and not put politicians or their family members on their show.

Because people arent voting for Palin based on the way she dances, they are voting for her because they like her mother. If this was ANY other dancer, they would have been kicked off WEEKS a go. Its corrupt.

American Idol is a popularity contest, too. But somehow the right person usually ends up winning. I guess we'll have to wait and see how this turns out.
Posted by momsey on 2010-11-17:
I still don't see how it's corrupt. People are voting her for whatever reason. Does the reason matter? Would it be corrupt if they were only voting for someone because they were hot?
Posted by Inat on 2010-11-17:
well, when "the people" vote on popularity rather than skill, you don't always get the "best" person - look at the guy in the white house, for example!

Don't turn this into a political debate for crying out loud. I didn't vote for him either so get over it like I did.

If you know what the demographics are of the viewers you should understand why the outcomes are the way they are.
Who cares anyway? I don't watch any of that rubbish.
Posted by Inat on 2010-11-17:
but it is a political debate - the only reason people are mad is that Bristol is the daughter of Sarah Palin. The "real" talent never wins these things when the public gets to vote - b/c it IS just a popularity contest

Whatever.
As I stated earlier, I don't watch those shows and can you prove that? Did you do an exit poll or what?
Maybe you were being too judgemental against her foes and didn't notice that they were just better.
What is she doing on there anyway?
