Checkers Complaint - Hairy Situation - Service

Review by linda9332 on 2010-11-18
WILTON MANORS, FLORIDA -- I am appalled. I usually do not eat at fast food restaurants but I did make an exception because I was in a hurry

I went to checkers for a quick take out lunch. I ordered one of their burgers and when I got home I got quite the surprise. There was a long black curly hair in my burger. I was immediately sickened. I sent an email to Checkers administration and received no response. Two days later I sent another email and still heard nothing.

It seems Checkers does not care about hygiene.

Please check your burgers before eating....

I do want to point out that I contacted Checkers management/administrations twice....My complaint is not as much the hair as it is with the lack of response from Checkers.

Linda

That's gross and I would be sickened too. Did you notify the store you bought the burger from? Have you tried calling anyone? I'm sure Checkers care about hygiene, or else they'd be shut down. They should show you that they care, though.

I'm sure they do try to be careful...did you know that the average person loses up to 100 strands of hair/day? Even with hairnets, I'm sure the occasional hair falls into our food..and when we see it, we are naturally grossed out.

Have you contacted this location directly to let the mgr know?

Unfortunately, we do not live in a bubble, or even a dome. We will occasionally be subject to the random hair, fly in the soup, mouse in the kitchen. It happens. But until the day comes that we have a bunch of cap & gown wearing cooks that resemble either surgeons or nuclear scientists, then we will have to accept the occasional mishap. Just think of how many times you HAVEN'T found a hair in your food!

I think I can safely agree with JC and Bud. Maybe.

Different strokes I guess, but getting a hair in my mouth has never really bothered me before.

Depends on who's hair and how it got there jamie.

I don't know about that, Jamie...the ones that get cooked into the food are pretty sick. The other ones, you can just pick them off and throw em to the side.

Yes ript2010, those probably are 2 deciding factors.

The only ones that are sick are the ones we notice...

If you look at the hair through an electron microscopic, you will see creepy crawlers on there.

Extra protein, MRM.

Once, in my younger and single days, my friend and I were out to breakfast after a night of pretty heavy drinking. My friend was always in worse shape than I was the next morning and she was just trying to make it through breakfast without losing her breakfast. I found a hair on my omelette and I knew if I said anything about it, she'd lose it. So I was the best friend ever, just got rid of the hair and went on with the meal!

I told her about it much later, once the threat of vomit was gone. She appreciated it.

I remember once when my parents took us out for burgers at a little hole in the wall diner. My dad bit into his burger and next thing I see is a really lonnnggg hair hanging out of his mouth with pieces of burger stuck to it. Yummmmm!!!

Why do people always assume black curly hairs are pubes? It's not explicitly said in the review but you can tell what the OP thought it was. They can be hair from the head of a black person or even an eyebrow hair. My husband found a hair in his Chipotle burrito that looked like a pube, but we determined it was an eyebrow hair instead, HIS eyebrow hair. Big deal, we're humans we have hair. Hair WILL make it into your food at some point. Hair is not inherently dirty and germ infested.

I have a cure for this type of aversion...

Have kids!

After a while, you become immune to these things.

Ytropious, I am even not going to ask how you and your husband went about determining the source of that hair, but I got a good laugh thinking about it. Thanks. lol

Almost EVERYTHING we come in contact with everyday has germs. Your body can and does tolerate 99.999% of them. Including those found on a hair. The "grossness" is mostly psychological.

It's not even funny. He thought it was a pube, I thought it was an eyebrow. I told him to pull an eyebrow out and compare it. I was right. He doesn't look at his eyebrows, I can't help but notice them sometimes, lol.
