Clear Complaint - Clear 4g NOT Ready for Primetime.... - Clear Wireless 4g Internet Service
Clear Wireless 4g Internet Service - Complaint
Stay away from Clear 4G in the Chicago area as you will be miserable with the connnection speed, customer service, and any miscellaneous equipment fees.
They advertise as "up to 6mbps" so one could expect at least half that considering they are charging over $45/mo for this service. During the day when internet usage is lower, it would often hit 5-6mbps as stated.
HOWEVER, in the evening when general internet usage is high, the avg speed would be. 5-1.5mpbs which is unacceptable considering you can pay $15/mo to AT&T to get DSL service for the same speed.
This is based on 3 Towers in different directions all within 1/2 mile from me and my modem at full 5 bars of signal strenght(maximum).
Called customer service to explain it and they couldn't and tried to attribute it to equipment problems. I don't think equipment would act different at different time of the day.
THE REAL KICKER is: they have a 14 day trial period but the customer service tries to make various excuses to keep you on past the 14 day trial so you're locked into either a contract or getting stiffed for 4G equipment if bought outright.

Maybe the $15/month with A.T.&T. would be a better service for you.

Well, yeah. UP TO 6mbps. During peak periods that will not be the case. This is true of basically any internet service.
