GoDaddy Complaint - Go "Somewhere Else" - Web Related Products

Web Related Products - Complaint
Review by Zdorsett on 2010-11-19
I purchased some web hosting, and domain related products from Godaddy just over a year ago, and I cannot tell you how mad I am to be a customer.

Not only have I experienced a great deal of problems with their user interface, as well as other aspects of their products, but their customer service is absolutely incompetent, and was not able to resolve my problems at all. Furthermore since I have tried to change providers, it’s going to cost me over 10 times my initial investment, just to get out of Godaddy’s service.

They’re tricky, it’s not really a contract service, so they're not that kind of fees, but basically I have to pay it, or else I lose my websites.

I’d suggest exploring some other options.

There is little or no charge to transfer a domain to another registrar (web hosting company). If you own the domain it cannot be taken from you unless it expires. Pick a new registrar and request they do the transfer for you.

I have experienced very good support from Go Daddy and Network Solutions.

back when i had my own domain i used yahoo. i never really had any issues. the only reason i dropped them was because i was cutting back on unnecessary expenses.

of course there's another option if you don't want to pay for web hosting.

Call your ISP and ask about pricing for hosting your own web server. Most ISPs won't let you do it on a home account but if you pay for extra service they'll do it. i don't know how much more it costs however.

but good luck!

I have used Godaddy for Domain names and web hosting and they are great. Best deals in the industry in my opinion.

That is not the experience that I had with Godaddy. I provided customer support with the name servers that I needed changed on the account, and requested the EEP code in order to transfer the domain to another provider.

Provided the EEP to other provider, everythings cool for a little while, then bam, my site is down. I ask my new service provider (which will remain nameless, because I don't want to convey the idea that I reccomend them) what the deal is, and they tell me that I provided an incorrect eep code, and that the transfer of the website was not succesful and that I would have to go back to godaddy to get the right EEP.

so I email support, which I might add, took almost an entire day to even email me back. and when they do email me back, it's some canned out response that a robot compiled based on keywords or something (you can tell that it was not a human being, noone would be so incompetent). Anyways they email me back and want almost $100 bucks in fees to "restate" the domain, claiming that I was default in my payment to them. I'm like, payment to you, I DON'T WANT TO WORK WITH YOU ANYMORE!!

Long story short, they refuse to give me the correct EEP to complete the transfer, until I pay this fee. and furthermore, if I don't pay these fees my domain, which I BOUGHT for like $9, is going to go back on the market, and it'll cost me $122 do buy it back.

It's criminal, I bet they take blokes like me for this type of coin ALL THE TIME. Read around the internet there's tons of horror stories like that.

Sure, some people probably get away without getting pined, but I wish I hadn't taken the chance, that's for sure. I'm out a hundred bucks.

contact the FTC
and get your credit/debit card statements in order to prove that your payments aren't behind
