General Motors Complaint - (Saturn Outlook) Electrical perfect storm
DETROIT, MICHIGAN -- Is is just me or has anyone else experienced a number of electrical issues with their Saturn Outlook (or should I say Saturn Outlawed). Have a 2007 Saturn Outlook, 49,000 miles or so, with less than 10,000 miles my first trouble was the tire monitoring system. The system would say "service tire monitoring system" I would take it to saturn, they would say "we can't find anything wrong but we'll reset the system. Of course this has occurred on at least 5-occasions. This is of course different from the vehicle letting you know that you have low tire pressure in one particular tire. To this date 11/19/2010 after 5 separate trips to the dealers they still cannot determine why this happens, although they are very happy to "re-set" it for you. Surely this was a recall item GM never fessed up to.
In the last 6 months or so I would see the driver headlight not function from time to time, this by some lucky break it would again illuminate and of course I thought "wow" guess I don't have to go back to the dealer. Well eventually my tricky headlight went out, I purchased a replacement bulb then had to take the tire off and wheel/well cover to complete the job. What I found next surprised me, the wiring harness had been installed from factory with one of the wires partially exposed, The harness had also melted inside near it's own connectors, inside the bulb connectors had also melted down. Of course the passenger side bulb has now malfunctioned, the bulb has been replaced 3 times and the now the factory installed harness has begun to meltdown. Additionally the touch screen navigation system no longer functions, upon installing the navigation DVD the system freezes and the screen goes black (dealer states I need a new radio system) $600. Then the check engine light came on it states there is a problem with the emission system malfunctioning, of course the dealer re-set the system, stating they could not determine the problem. Now the passenger side mirror which has row of LED lights which has gone out, they are illuminated up activating the blinker system. All this has taken place before the vehicle has reached 50,000 miles.
Saturn customer service is having a bit of a problem calling me back!!! HHHHMMMMMM I wonder why???? Sounds like I might not be the only one who owns a vehicle which will probably loose other electric components and eventually end up on the side of the road burned to a crisp!!! I still have no idea how much it will cost to determine what is truly wrong with the electronics of this vehicle. Please do not buy one of these.
