Thrifty Complaint - Rental Insurance
SO, BURLINGTON -- After calling Thrifty to see if the Hotwire insurance they offer will cover the car etc..
The reply, they don't have the coverage you need to protect yourself.
Upon arriving, the representative told me that the car had to have additional insurance on it to pull away. And that I could leave without having liability, or that is wasn't automatically on there.
Vermont state law requires that you have at least liability, so it would be illegal for them to lend you a car in the state without it. Thats what I was thinking.
I looked into it, this is what I was told. The car has to have at least liability to be legally driven out. So, why charge me for liability.
Next, the representative couldn't explain the insurance policies clear enough to know what the difference was besides towing coverage. I bought the insurance because I was unsure, neither were they. I paid more for insurance then I did the car.
I have to say that I have used thrifty almost every time I go out of state. Never a problem. I bring customers there that have been in accidents and need rentals.
Then they wanted to charge my card for gas after I just filled it up, I went bak to the gas station and squeezed $1.44 into it. Gave them both receipts and left very unhappy.
Guess its avis for all my customers now
