Please do not hire these people and have your neighbors hate you.

Holidays really don't mean anything anymore. My idiot neightbor went out on Easter Sunday at 3pm and mowed his lawn with a loud tractor. Then, at 5:30pm, another neighbor started firing a shotgun. Being a holiday, he cut off after only a half hour.

I cut my grass on Easter too. Company was coming and I wanted it to look fresh. I am a little obsessive about my yard and I think my neighbors understand me. It never occurred to me that I may have been a pain in the butt. I'll try to remember that.

Is it possible that there was some sort of emergency that made the tree trimming necessary? I'm not defending anyone, and I would certainly be peeved if I was woken up by that on a day off. But there might be more to it than just someone hiring a company to do some routine work.

I guess times have changed. A century ago, people would have mowed on Friday afternoon or Saturday in preparation for the holiday.

Sorry incrediblelee, my age is showing. This kind of thing happens all the time between generations. I would change my name to "Old_Fart", but that one is taken.

Not everyone is lucky enough to have paid holidays off. They have to work so that they can feed their children and put a roof over their heads. I sure these workers were thankful that they had jobs and could work so that maybe their children had food on the table that week.

I like it to look and smell freshly cut when I am having a dinner. If you do it a day or two early, the smell has gone away. Maybe I am a little nutty. I also like to have the carpet freshly vacuumed with the lines on it. Luckily I have a 54" mower so it takes all of maybe 20 minutes for my 1/4 acre.

Mowing at 3pm on a holiday isn't the worst thing I've heard. If they had done it at 7am, it would have been another story. I might have borrowed the shooting neighbor's gun :).

it was a holiday, you have been allowed to enjoy your special day. 7.30 am was far to early on any day!
shame on them!!

very helpful.

Wow thats pretty rediculous. Does your township have a noise ordinance? A lot of places cant start firing up loud equipment until a certain time.

I have my own shotgun. But I wouldn't fire it on Easter Sunday.

Mowing at 3pm on Flag Day wouldn't bother me.

Mowing isn't allowed at all on Sunday in some communities.

There is a noise ordinance in my community. We are not allowed to make noise with power tools or anything else for that matter, until a certain hour, and must desist after a certain hour. Doesn't apply unless someone complains about it. It's common sense and courtesy though.

Could it be that the people were working for the apartment building?

Were they doing this on the grounds of your apartment complex? Have you tried contacting management to voice your complaint?

When my neighbors had the roof replaced, the workers started tearing off the old roof at 6AM on a Saturday and throwing the pieces down to the dumpster below, right outside our bedroom window! It sounded like bombs exploding. I live in a bedroom community and people sleep on Saturday morning. No one even mows the laws before 9:00 a.m.

I think momsey could be on to something. It might have been an emergency.

I wonder about an emergency, as well. A few years ago, a neighbor's old oak tree toppled over at midnight. The electric company had to come out to make sure that there was no immediate safety threat. That did involve a small bit of noise, but all of us were up anyway. The rest of the tree removal occurred during daytime.

Another neighbor had a huge old tree that developed a crack. It had to be properly cut down before it split and injured someone. Immediately.
