DenMat Complaint - Lumineers Crack too Darn Easily
SANTA MARIA, CALIFORNIA -- I had 8 Lumineer veneers applied to my upper teeth 2 1/2 years ago. One cracked during installation. Since then, I noticed that another had developed a minor crack so I left it alone. Then, a few months ago, I noticed that an adjacent veneer had developed a crack. I showed it to the dentist and she felt it would hold and should not be replaced. Well, after two months, part of that veneer fell away along that crack. I have now had an exposed original tooth for three weeks awaiting replacement. Meanwhile, over the weekend I noticed that the adjacent veneer with the minor crack now has a bigger crack that definitely needs replacement. I think that perhaps the veneer cracked when the dentist was cleaning out the space between the two teeth. She had to sand away the cement that had been under the veneer she was replacing and it caused a lot of pressure on the other veneer which already had a small crack to start with. Or perhaps it cracked as the adjacent tooth is smaller now as the veneer is temporarily missing. I don't know - but I do know that is it cracked and will break off soon. So now I have to face the Christmas season with missing veneers - which will make my smile sooo embarrasssing. I love my dentist and trust that she knows what she is doing. But this product seems to be far more fragile than it is billed.
They provide a 5 year guarantee per tooth - with a single replacement per tooth apparently. These things are supposed to last about 20 years. That is not going to be the case in my experience. Plus what a hassle and who wants periods when you can't smile?
