Target Complaint - Terrible customer service - could not care less there was a problem
My wife and I are expecting, so naturally we are purchasing lots of baby items as well as getting a variety of gifts. Until recently, many of our purchases were at Target and Target.com, but in light of how poorly they recently treated us, we do not shop there. First, I must say that Target.com's customer service ranks up there with the worst. Without a doubt, you will not speak to anybody on this continent and the person who you do eventually speak with can speak English no better than reading the preset Target.com script. All that aside, here is one example of how terrible Target recently was: My wife and I ordered approximately $300 worth of baby items including many available only online. When the $200 chair we ordered arrived, it was broken and we had to return it to the store. The store, however, did not have the chair and was not able to order it in for us. When we went to reorder it online, Target re-charged us for shipping - $35 total because Target found it necessary to ship our items in 3 separate boxes - so I called Target to have the shipping waived ... Right off the bat, Target's response could be summarized as nothing short of disdain for my request. Finally, after 2 supervisors and a variety of threats to leave a review similar to this, I was told that I would receive a $35 gift card in the mail to cover the shipping. Brilliantly, and you ALWAYS should do this, I made the Target.com representative send me an email while I was still on the phone confirming our conversation. Call ends and I have an email in hand stating that I will receive the gift card in 7-10 days. Almost 25 days have now passed and no gift card. I called last week and despite Target.com seeing the email, it took over 30 minutes on the phone and then they could only say "Call us back Monday, it might just be late." Another 30 minutes on the phone tonight and again nothing has been resolved.
On principle, I have continued to call for this $35 gift card. BUT, THAT SAID, I plan not to shop at Target.com any longer. This store is disgusting and its customer service is abominable. If nothing else, when you sell something in the US, get an English speaking American to handle claims in a respectable way. DON'T, as does Target.com, forward me to some call center in India, with some idiot reading a script who cannot do anything other than A, B, or C, else his family will be murdered by Target.com.
I hate Target and I hope everyone who reads this never shops there again.
