Sears Complaint - Refrigerator under maintenance agreement - tech ordered door/canceled order down the road without letting me know
MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- My LG refrigerator had some stainless rubbing off so I called Sears for a repair service call. I have the maintenance protection agreement and my refrigerator is only a couple of years old. The tech came out on October 9, 2010 and ordered me a new right side door for my side by side refrigerator. The new door arrived and the service call was set up twice as the first time, the repair man didn't show up. He finally showed up on November 13, 2010 and took the new door out of the box that was in the garage, came upstairs and put the door on. My husband and I noticed that the door does not match the color of the left door and the grain is different. The repairman said that the first tech should've ordered a new refrigerator as it would've been cheaper. He said he'd order me another new door and he wrote up the order and gave me the slip. I asked him to take the damaged door out of my garage and he said he couldn't do that until the case was closed, which it wasn't. Today, December 1, 2010 I called Sears repair/service and was told that I am not getting a replacement door for my refrigerator. I was told the repairman cancelled the order after he left my house and AFTER he gave me the repair slip stating he had ordered the new door. One person at customer service today told me that it's "cosmetic", which is covered under the maintenance agreement that I have but they're refusing to honor it. So in a nutshell, Sears took my $ for the maintenance protection agreement and will not honor it, will not honor the repair slip I have, and now they are refusing to come out for a service call.
To all you consumers who think Sears stands behind their product even with their maintenance protection agreements, think again. Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any advice.
