United Parcel Service Complaint - Useless Parcel Service
DEWSBURY -- My experience of the UPS standard delivery service in the United Kingdom is that less than half an inch of snow on the ground renders a package undeliverable due to "adverse weather conditions", despite all main roads in the West Yorkshire area being salted and clear and side roads being easily passable! Having queried this with the national contact center I was contacted by my local UPS depot who were apologetic and promised to prioritise my delivery the following day, and that the day manager would contact me with an ETA. I never received a call so I waited in all day again for my package. It snowed during the day 2" fell before 7pm when I realized my parcel was once again undeliverable due to " adverse weather conditions." It is now 5pm on the third day (1.12.10) a further 4" of snow has fallen today. What are the chances of receiving my urgent package? I would rate my chances as about the same as me ever using UPS's delivery service again! A company built on keeping its promises? More like a company who can’t keep one in my experience!
PS:As predicted the package never arrived(02.12.10) and it won't arrive today either. UPS tracking service states "the package has been left at a UPS facility, delivery rescheduled", I had to ring the national service center to find out the meaning of this cryptic message (they couldn't be bothered to ring me as my delivery is only 3 days overdue!)Apparently this means that there is a huge backlog of undelivered parcels at the local depot and they cannot guarantee a delivery date. The guarantee on their website to deliver within 1 day does not apply because "the delay is down to an act of god" UPS have finally found someone to who they can pass the book. This company ought to be renamed United Parcel Sucks!
(3.12.10)The Useless Parcel Service(UPS)have again returned my parcel to one of their facilities, so no delivery again today! During my hours spent waiting around for UPS the Royal Mail have driven past my house, Interlink Express have and City link have just done so. So it seems all courier services can get around this area apart from the Useless Parcel Service.
I could wait no longer, or rather my customer couldn't cope any longer without hot water, so I drove to Dewsbury to collect my package from UPS's depot. The journey was straight forward without any problems, so I cannot understand why UPS could not deliver on that day or the previous four! I think UPS ought to refund their delivery charge, I will let you know how I get on in this regard but I dont hold out much hope given their performance so far.
