Rooms To Go Complaint - Will Never shop at RTG again
NORTH CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA -- About 2.5 months ago I purchases a bedroom suit and a mattress that both came with a 32" flat screen TV. The sales associate gave me one HHGregg gift card for a 43" TV. When I went to HHGregg to purchase my TV (32"), the card came up saying it was for a 43" TV instead of the 32". The price of the TV was $330.00 (32"), which is what I wanted. So I went back to your store (RTG) and they ordered me a new gift card for $623.00. After 1.5 weeks I am waiting for my card to come in the mail, I called and my card was at the store. When I picked up the card I asked if it was activated and was told it was. I then went back to HHGregg to find out the card was NOT activated. I called your store and was told that I have a balance of $23.00 that needs to be paid before the card would be activated. I called Corporate and talked with Brandon Perry who told me that this was not a corporate problem, that a regional manager would contact me on 11/24 or 11/26. As of this morning (12/03/10), I have not heard from anyone from a regional office so I contacted corporate yet again and spoke with Robin, who told me that the cost of the TV's went up and I needed to pay the $23.00 to be able for them to activate the card. She said that the store should still have the $600.00 card and can send an email to have the old card activated. Contacted the store again to have the $600.00 card activated and Ms. Kathy told me that she does not have the old card anymore. So I was going to have her order me yet another $600.00 card so I would not have to owe any more money to your store. While typing this email Ms. Kathy called back and told me that the card I am holding now (the one I need to pay $23.00 for) is worth $660.00. I am not sure if you can see my frustration in this matter, but I am going to go and pay the $23.00 against my better judgment so I can get this gift card activated and NOT have to deal with your company again.
Your add is VERY misleading and it needs to say the customer IS PAYING for the TV's not that it comes WITH the bedroom/mattress sets. This has been the biggest run around I have ever gotten from a company or store. I will NOT recommend your store to any of my colleagues or even acquaintances.
