THIBODAUX, LOUISIANA -- Bought a twelve-pack of can tuna from Starkist. Opened first can. Horrible smell. Threw it out. Opens two more cans and provided to make sandwiches with eggs and mayo. First bite into sandwich felt something hard. Spit it out to find a piece of bone 1/2 inch long by 3/16 wide. Glad I didn't swallow. Very dissatisfied with this product!

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA -- I've been eating this stuff for years now from the packets. When they first came out, they just seemed so much more fresh than something sitting in a can. I had a late lunch break the other day and the only thing I had time for was a packet of tuna. I ate it. Didn't smell weird or anything. But about an hour later I started feeling a little strange.

By the time 3 hrs went by, I was having painful stomach cramps and then the vomiting started. And that continued all night and into the morning hours the next day. Had I eaten anything else that day, I wouldn't blame it directly on the tuna. I've never experienced vomiting like I did that day. Absolutely awful. I'll never buy from them again (I also went online and found articles where they are in trouble with the FDA on food safety).

Starkist and What They Are Calling Tuna

LAKEWOOD, CALIFORNIA -- Up until about a year ago I would make a tuna sandwich every day for lunch. Now none. I give the food to my three cats. They love it. I hope it doesn't hurt them. The reason I quit eating Starkist is because I hate eating a sandwich by sucking it through a straw. Their tuna has become a five ounce can that is 2 oz water. I can squeeze 1 and a 1/2 ounces of water out of each can. I even feel bad giving it to my cats. They love it just like I use to make my sandwiches. Put some mayo in it and mix it with their cat food.

I have even take pictures to show how much and what it looks like before and after I squeeze the water out of it. They should be calling it a Tuna Slurpee. I tried some of the other ones Chicken of the Sea, Bumble Bee, some of the off brands and they have become all the same. More water than tuna even when I have squeezed as much water as I can out of the can, the tuna is so saturated with water that the container I put it in overnight, still have more water come to the top of the container. There really isn't much more I can say except that since my cats are still eating it I guess I'll buy it BUT I WON'T EAT IT.

Solid White? Nope. Tuna is neither solid, nor white.

CALIFORNIA -- I have been eating a can of tuna every day for the past 30 years. I ALWAYS buy store brand solid white tuna, be it Great Value from Walmart, or the Wegmans store brand. Every single time I open those cans, the tuna is a glorious lump of SOLID WHITE MEAT. But sometimes they are sold out, and I'm forced to buy the name brand tuna. Can someone please explain to me why 'StarKist', a name brand tuna that costs more than the Walmart 'Great Value' brand, can have such a crappy, inferior product??

Solid white? Nope. You guys have THE WORST 'solid white' tuna I have ever come across. It is neither solid, nor white. You are trying to pass off gross, slimy, chunk white for solid white. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. You lost a customer for life today, StarKist.

DUNCAN, OKLAHOMA -- I usually always eat Starkist Tuna... but I made Tuna Helper and I took a big bite and bit into something so weird. Something like an eggshell but it was a fish scale... really grossed me out. I think I'll steer clear of canned tuna for a long time. Yuck!

GLOBAL -- I have always purchased chunk lite tuna on the off chance there is slightly less mercury in it than solid white tuna. Most often I have bought Starkist, but Starkist has managed to put so much water in the can and so little tuna it is now just Tuna Soup; almost impossible to drain unless one presses it through a sieve. Then there is laughably little tuna for all the trouble. Even less expensive generic brands do much better. They have lost another customer.

Full of Scales

ALLEN, TEXAS -- I've bought 4 cans of the solid white albacore tuna. While making a tuna salad sandwich I noticed there was a large amount of scales. After picking out the scales thinking how cheap Starkist has gotten with quality control, I reached for an onion in the fridge and smelt a very strong fishy smell. The can smelt fine but the fingers I used to pick the scales out smelt like I just filleted a fish. I couldn't bring myself to finish making my sandwich and just threw the can away. Won't be buying Starkist again.

KINGSFORD, MICHIGAN -- Found an obnoxious amount of fish scales in my tuna. I was eating it with macaroni and was shocked to bite down into something crunchy. Every bite, it was ridiculous. I love tuna and I'm definitely not buying this brand again.
