Target Complaint - Target "Bait and switch" advertising
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I recently saw an adevertisment in my local paper for a 26inch flat screen television for $198.00 at TARGET. This seemed to good to be true so I went to my local Target store to check it out. I went to the electronics department and there it was a 26 inch flat screen TV on sale for $198.00. I decided to buy two of them for Christmas gifts. I didn't want to put them on the credit card so I went to the bank about 15 minutes away and got the cash. I then returned to the Target and told the Cashier I want to buy two of them 26 inch TVs for 198.00 a piece. His reply "WE don't have none left". I said "What ! The sale just started today and it's only 11:00am" Where did they all go?. I then ask the cashier "why do you still have the Sale display up if you don;t have none left. He said "we can't take it down". I said why not? He didn't know so I ask to talk to the Manager. The manager arrived all red faced and mad. I thought to myself (Why is this man mad already) I guess I bothered him during his breakfast. I ask him why the Sale sign was still up if they were sold out. he said "We can't take the sign down because the sale just started today and its all week" I said Oh that means you are gonna get more $198.00 TV in. he said "we should" I said does that mean yes or no. He said "That means I don't know".That's when I walked out with my $400.00. I guess the Ad was true. they did have a $198.00 Flat screen on sale that day but apparently they only had one.
