Sofa Select in Mishawaka Complaint - Mattress caves in

Review by emmv on 2010-12-05
MISHAWAKA, INDIANA -- I purchased a pillow top mattress at Sofa Select in Mishawaka for $399.00 plus tax. I tried it on the store and seemed to be ok. When it was delivered and installed on my bed I noticed that it was extra tall the mattress and the spring box, both, in comparison to my previous one. It was too tall! My 6 yr old had a hard time getting to the top of my bed without help. I called Sofa Select the next day and they did not want to hear anything related to the word replacement so I had to keep it and the bills kept coming every month.
Less than a month after that I noticed that the mattress caves in to the center and no matter what I end up in the middle of the bed all the time. It is very uncomfortable to sleep every night like that and in the morning I feel not rested at all.

At $400, that is a cheaply built mattress. Pillowtop mattresses are very thick, and most bedsheets sold today are made with "deep pockets" to fit these wider mattresses. Also, thick pillowtop mattresses do take some getting used to, especially if your previous mattress was narrower and/or firmer. Also, is this a brand-name mattress or an "off-brand" mattress of the type typically advertised with a low price in order to lure you to the mattress store? Usually mattress salesmen tend to "bait and switch" their customers away from these cheaper sets. At the price you paid, you probably got what you paid for. Also, was the mattress rotated properly? New mattresses, especially pillowtops, need to be rotated at least weekly for the first month or so, so the springs and upholstery settle properly. This is typically required for the mattress's warranty to be in effect. A suggestion...for your next mattress, try The Original Mattress Factory, if they're in your area. My pillowtop came from there, and I have been very happy with it...I had it for almost 6 years now.

Well, excuse me if I cannot afford more expensive mattresses and have to go with a pillowtop for $399.00 on sale. I do not remember the original price. We rotate the mattress every month and does not help. We decided to put it in our guest bedroom and purchased a new one somewhere else and is not a pillowtop.
