Europcar Complaint - What a ripoff - car rental

Review by hazelwood on 2010-12-08
IRELAND -- On a recent 2 week trip to Ireland I rented a car from Europcar. I prepaid from the states, and when I arrived, I added an additional insurance at 100.00 per week. The agent upgraded me from an economy to a compact, at his own discretion as plenty of cars were available. Next, I was instructed to bring the car back with a full tank of gas which I did so everything was taken car of, or so I thought. When I got my credit card statement I was billed for 367.23, 115.05, and 61.95. I e-mailed Europcar on several occasions, and got a reply asking where the car rental was, etc. and I gave all the info and never heard from them again. Next, I contacted the credit card company which promptly removed the charges, but will reinstate them if I can't provide all the information they want etc. Its almost a no-win situation, but I wish I had known about all the bad reviews Europcar got, and I never would have dealt with them. At my age (76) I hope I can get it straightened out without going further with this.
