American Express Complaint - Gold card upgrade
Been with AMEX since 1988 as it says on my card...have a joint account with my stay at home wife who gets an offer to upgrade to a platinum card that comes with a lot of perks like 100,000 Amex miles - so I call and get transferred three times and end result is they will not honor the offer for me unless I close out my 23 year old accoutn and open one with my unemployed wife - they tell me the system won't let them - classic case of a good intention causing a negative customer experience. The offer is intended for new customers - they value new customers more and no one cares if I close out my account after 23 years and very high charges paid off in full every month. Watch out for the greatest offer not honored!
