TRAVELOCITY.COM Complaint - TRAVELOCITY RIPS YOU OFF!
Travelocity's fees for making a change to a reservation are both excessive and abusive.
A surprise reservation was made for me by my friend to travel to New York at the end of April 2005. Unfortunately, I am not able to travel on those dates.
I called Travelocity, explained the situation and was told there would be either a change or cancellation fee of $350.00. They explained that they were being charged the fees from both the hotel and the airlines.
Finding that to be a little strange, I called the VP of Reservations at the hotel, a leading upper class national hotel company. This manager offered to make the change, without any cancellation fee whatsoever. The only restriction is that the change needs to be made directly from Travelocity.
I then called the airline who told me the change fee would be a nominal $50.00 per ticket.
With that information in hand, I again called Travelocity who repeated the company line and wanted to charge me $350.00. Being very frustrated, I decided to do nothing.
A few days later I called Travelocity and was now told the change fee would be $250.00 plus hotel and airline fees of about 175.00. What a bargain, only $425.00 instead of the already abusive $350.00.
Given the two great choices, I cancelled the reservation incurring the $350.00 fee. I will now protest to the credit card company.
Travelocity is a TOTAL RIPOFF! I would not encourage anyone to use their "services".
