Macy's West Complaint - Honora Pearls price greatly exaggerated..Trust is gone! - "original price" rediculous

"original price" rediculous - Complaint
Review by 'ReenM57 on 2010-12-16
OLYMPIA, WASHINGTON -- I was shopping for a pearl ring at Macys during the 1st week of December during their Friends and Family promotion. The Honora brand pearl ring was "originally" priced at $300. It was marked down 50% and then another reduction to make the "big sale price" $106. I was excited with the reduction and the pretty ring and matching earrings, so I bought them. When I got home I looked at the Honora company website and found that the "$300" ring actually had a retail value of $125! So, I really only saved 19 whole dollars on the ring.....and saved even less on the earrings. I am so disappointed in Macy's.

I have bought several rings from Macy's fine jewelry counter and will now longer trust their jewelry department. If they try to trick it's customers on the value of their jewelry, what else are they trying to trick us with? This is an insulting way to treat customers and I will no longer buy from their "fine jewelry" department.

According to you, you have a beautiful set of jewelry, and you saved $19. You got a deal and they made a profit. Where's the problem?

I understand how you feel, but most department stores operate that way. I'm annoyed with Macy's, too. I recently placed an order online during their Wednesday one-day sale event. Two days later, the price was even lower. I realize prices fluctuate, but I'll never fall for that one-day sale thing again.

Yeah, certain stores seem to always have a "sale." Macy's has so many One Day Sales that it is ridiculous at this point. It used to be a big deal. Now it's almost weekly.

If you shop certain stores enough, you figure out that you never pay "full price" because the "sale price" is closer to the actual retail price than the "full price."

Those 'One Day Sales' are misleading. Most of the stuff on sale, is actually on sale all week, not just that day. I don't shop at Macy's, not even when I worked for the company doing collections. But Macy's does a lot of charity work for United Way and Make a Wish. This time of year, they have donate $1 to Make a Wish for every letter that a child writes to Santa. They were actually a great company to work for because they do give a lot back to the community.

The price of what I purchased did go up on Thursday, but by Friday it was marked down below the one-day sale price. I knew the price would eventually be lower, but two days?!! What a joke, even worse than Kohl's.
