American Express Informative - American Express Gift Card Offer
On December 15, 2010, I was concerned about receiving shipment of my order for gift cards on December 13, 2010. I could not determine whether "2-day shipping" meant UPS or USPS, but assumed it was UPS which required my signature and could not guarantee my presence to sign for the order. I was advised that it was UPS and would not be delivered until next Tuesday, December 21st due to the heavy volume of shipping, with a second try on Wednesday, December 22nd. This is very close to Christmas in the event of a mishap, with no telephone number to confirm, just a second try the following day.
I believe this information should be available on the order. The comment "2nd Day (Plus Processing) is misleading since it appears that the volume determines how long before the item is actually shipped.
Now the complaint: I called the 800 number twice and could not understand the speech of the gentleman who answered both times. The volume was low and he spoke rapidly with an accent. My third call was answered by another gentleman, also with an accent but more easily understood, but he had to excuse himself several times to get the shipping information I needed.
I am more interested in the company's response than I am in informing the public of my experience.
