Gateway Complaint - Gateway laptop - nothing but problems!
Purchased a Gateway laptop, less than 1 year into using it, we were experiencing issues. First the power cord was faulty, and was not supplying power to the laptop, thus causing the system to just shut down when it felt like it. Than, one evening the cord entering the laptop started to spark then smoke. While all of this was happening I was getting the run around from Gateway help. in the meantime, I put a packet together with all email correspondance and sent it to Gateway complaint department. Hoping they would respond, but they never did. After informing the "support" that our house could have burned down and worst yet with us in it, they finally responded quickly - they sent us a new cord!. Now that my laptop is out of warranty, it won't start up by simply pressing the power button! On the Gateway web page they have what needs to be down for this problem - unplug the cord from the laptop- hold the power button down for 30 sec, then plug the cord back in. Well - is this really normal? This is a problem and the laptops should be recalled back and replaced! If I press a start button - it better power up! That is what I paid for! Another thing - the laptop - will just shut down, doesn't matter what you are doing - it will shut down! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GATEWAY PRODUCT AND BUYER BEWARE! DON'T BUY ONE OF THESE! We are in the process of looking for another laptop - THIS GATEWAY LAPTOP IS COMPLETLY UNRELIABLE! OUR ENTIRE FAMILY WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GATEWAY PRODUCT!
