Most extended warranties are useless and well written double talk. they use excuses of that's normal wear and tear which isn't covered. i would save the money and use it when something needs repairs

On a new car, I would not bother with an extended warranty.
I recently bought a relatively expensive used car, and made sure to get a certified pre-owned warranty. This gave me piece of mind for 2-1/2 years with a car of unknown origin.

there is a lot more credibility with a mfctr ext warranty than 3rd party. Since Toyota reimburses dlr at actual labor rates they want the repair to be covered. Insurance companies pay way less. I had bought a Chrysler extended warranty and it was good. It was just on the internet today that the Toyota Sienna is one of the best built minivans in Americas and one in a list of 10 vehicles that could easily drive 200k miles, so the reliablity is very good. Personally if a $2000 repair bill you could handle yourself then I'd forget about it. Ask as some warrantys will refund you if you never make a claim.

They are not really necessary with Toyota's. You can always ask for it for free as part of your negotiations for purchasing the vehicle.

I purchased a new 2007 FJ Cruiser with the platinum extended warranty from Toyota. The rear differential went out over a week ago while driving in four wheel drive in the snow. Rear seal blew and could smell the fluid burning on the muffler. Toyota has denied my claim because they said it was a slow leak and ran out of fluid causing the differential to go bad. It was not a slow leak but blown seal that depleted the fluid from the differential casing. Either way, Toyota declined my claim. $2000 bill to repair it.

Don't do it! In fact run away as fast as you can. This extended warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. I purchased one three years ago, feeling as others have stated the peace of mind would be worth it. I bought a 2006 Tundra which developed a noise I had not heard before. The tech said it was the tourque converter, took it on a test drive and blew the engine. Guess what, after many promises, double talk, and well planned legalese they denied the claim based on one of several scenarios including a pre existing condition on a certified vehicle. I would not give a dime for the warranty, the nameplate, the dealership or anything else that had toyota associated with it! Back out of the deal or run away from the warranty. Probably should do both.
