Jcpenneys Complaint - Poor Service...time to go out of business!

Review by jergie on 2010-12-26
Ordered the only gift I bought for my husband on Dec.5th. Delivery was to be 1 week from date ordered. Received an email from them stating delivery would be on Dec. 13th coming from factory. Received one item I ordered but as of Dec. 21st I did not get the my husband's present. I called and customer service (if that is what they call themselves) said there is a problem with back orders. They never called or sent an email notifying me. I asked if it would be here in time for x-mas and they said they would call the factory. Received a call back 1 hr later saying that the factory was behind. Everything would be shipped on the 22nd and overnighted to us for the 23rd. But NOT GUARENTEED! Well of course not! And of course they blamed the factory for the late shipment. I told her that JcPenney uses this factory and they are ultimately responsible to notify their customers. No response to that. Well the package never came and my poor husband got nada! Thanks again JcPenneys for an unforgettable Christmas. P.S. This is the second time I ordered and never received my items....ordered a lantern last summer....never came and never a phone call. Discontinued I was told! after I called. Oh and I forgot to mentioned when I called to cancel the gift I ordered ....they said OK ALL set! Sorry about that...thank you for using JcPenneys...we appreciate your business.... WHATEVER!

I order a gift for my 17 year old son. I ordered it to late to be here for Christmas, I didn't want to pay $12 extra to get it here in time. I printed a picture of it and wrapped it up with a note saying it will arrive this week and he was very happy he was getting it even though its a few days late. The most important things during the holiday season are free, like family and good health for yourself and family.

I used to work in retail. Where I worked, if people wanted to order something in December for Christmas, I would tell them it likely wouldn't get there on time. My suggestion is to order at least 2 months ahead of time but even then know of the possibilites that it could be late.

When I use mail order for a Christmas present, I don't count on having it for Dec 25. Reason being, I usually wait until after Dec 1 to shop.

Therefore, I buy some stuff in person so I am sure I will have something. The recipient is always happy when they finally get everything. A missing present doesn't ruin Christmas for me, as being together is what really counts.

There is always a bit of risk involved when buying gifts online. Too many things can go wrong and sometimes can't be helped. I have a feeling you are more disappointed than your husband.

However, if this is the second time you've had this problem with JCP, I would keep that in mind for the next time. You might want to skip JCP and find your gifts elsewhere.
